What is the difference between 6x19, 6x36 and 7x19 wire rope?
The numbers describe the construction: 6 strands of 19, 36 or 7 wires each. 6x19 is the general-purpose rope, 6x36 has more, thinner wires for better flexibility over sheaves, and 7x19 is very flexible, used on winches and control cables. See our construction guide for the full comparison.
Galvanized or stainless steel wire rope?
Galvanized rope carries a zinc coating for outdoor and humid service at lower cost. Stainless (AISI 304 or 316) resists corrosion in marine, food and chemical environments. Both are available in bright and compacted constructions.
Fiber core or IWRC?
A fiber core (FC) rope is more flexible and cushions the strands. An independent wire rope core (IWRC) adds strength and resistance to crushing and heat, at the cost of some flexibility, and is preferred for higher loads and multi-layer spooling.
Where can I find breaking strength data?
Each rope page lists the standard breaking load for its diameters, plus recommended safety factors. The breaking strength chart collects the common constructions in one table. A certified test for your order can be arranged on request.
Which end fittings do you supply?
Thimbles, wire rope clips, aluminum ferrules, swaged terminals and hand-spliced eyes. Tell us the fitting type and rope diameter, and we match them to the rope construction.
