Covered Grating — Molded FRP Slip-Resistant, Corrosion-Resistant Grating with Solid Top

Construction, Selection and Typical Applications of Covered Grating

Covered grating combines a molded FRP grating load-bearing structure with a slip-resistant solid top, forming a continuous horizontal walking surface on the exposed side. Greenlogy TEC offers a range of resin systems and panel sizes to help match the configuration to project conditions. The solid top helps keep dust, liquids and debris from falling into the space below, can help control subsurface odors, and reduces the risk of tripping for narrow heels.

Selection typically considers the load conditions of the walkway, the support span, the installation method and the service environment, so that the appropriate grating thickness, panel size and resin system can be matched. Covered grating is commonly used for stair treads, platform walkways, high cart-traffic surfaces, trench covers and areas around equipment, where a strong, level walking surface is needed; in open areas that require drainage or ventilation, it can also be used together with open mesh grating.

  • Solid top construction: forms a continuous level surface that helps reduce contamination of the space below and control subsurface odors.
  • Slip-resistant top: suited to stairs and walkways with regular foot or cart traffic.
  • Approximately 30% higher stiffness than open mesh grating: provides stable support for wider spans.
  • Available in Greenlogy TEC resin systems: helps match the configuration to corrosive environments and service requirements.
