Operating Environment
- Rotation-resistant wire rope of the 17X7 / 18X7 / 19X7 family, and the 32X7 / 35X7 / 37X7 specifications, is used on offshore crane wire rope, deck crane wire rope, pillar crane wire rope, main hoist wire rope, lifting slings and slings, so it must be selected for outdoor marine and dock-side service where salt-laden air and continuous load cycling are present.
- In these lifting duties the rope is exposed to atmospheric humidity and moisture; the bright finish is normally chosen for dry, sheltered reeving, while the galvanized finish is supplied for humid or intermittently wet crane and sling applications.
- Because the same rope serves cranes and slings, operating conditions also include abrasive contact with sheaves and drums and repeated bending over them; correct groove and drum matching, plus a suitable lubricant, supports performance in these conditions.
- For service in strongly corrosive media or at temperature extremes, confirm the duty with us before ordering, since the GB/T 20118-2006 standard covers the rope construction rather than a specific site environment.
